E-mobility is one of the most interesting future-oriented topics. Only if we rethink mobility will we be able to succeed in positively changing the climate balance. If an increasing number of vehicles are fueled with eco-electricity, for example, instead of with fossil fuels, then CO2 emissions can be dramatically reduced. Politics and industry have finally recognized this and are launching appropriate initiatives, and A1 is also making an important contribution: by using the existing infrastructure, telephone booths are being equipped as electric charging stations. To pay for the electricity charged we have deployed a solution from our subsidiary paybox. "Tanking up" electricity can be paid for as easily and uncomplicated as it is to pay for parking tickets: the payment is made via mobile phone. Vienna’s first electric charging station was launched in May 2010 and within the course of the year 30 telephone booths will be turned into charging stations for e-vehicles.
