Modern broadband networks, which in many cases allow unlimited data transmission due to fiber optics technology, are the heart of modern infrastructure. As leading telecommunications provider we are conscious of our responsibility to provide Austria with high-quality telecommunications infrastructure. A major portion of the annual investments of A1 go into the rollout of broadband networks. In the meantime, mobile broadband is accessible to roughly 99% of all Austrians, while ADSL is accessible to 98% of all Austrian households.

Fiber optic and copper cables of A1 total approximately 50 million kilometers. In the course of preparations for the Football European Championship, additional, particularly powerful data lines were created, which were also available for commercial and private use following the UEFA EURO 2008™.

Through its investments in rolling out communications infrastructure A1 contributes to the growth and prosperity of Austria. 1.8 % of the entire gross value added is generated by day to day business and investment activity. And approximately 41,000 jobs (more than 1 % of all jobs in Austria) are ensured directly and indirectly by A1.
