Senior Citizens Online
The proportion of so-called silver surfers is increasing. But many elderly people still do not have access to the Internet - although they are interested in and receptive to this new technology. To us, e-Inclusion also means giving them the necessary tools for using these new technologies.
As co-founder of the initiative Seniorkom.at, we help the Austrian Seniors Council to educate senior citizens about the Internet. One of the results of this cooperation is the barrier-free website seniorkom.at, which has been very successful so far: More than 13,000 registered users actively participate - for instance in forums, chats and blogs, articles and Radio Seniorkom.at. The Internet initiative received the European e-Inclusion Award in 2008.
Apprentices Train Senior Citizens
A1 does not only provide financial support to Seniorkom.at. Our staff is also there for elderly Internet users. Free Internet training courses for senior citizens have been available since 2008. The courses - which were held by apprentices - have been very popular, therefore we will continue this service in Vienna and the rest of the country. Our experts also answer technical questions in online chats on seniorkom.at.
